I thought since i brought over that old post i would bring over a few more... this one what from march '08...and for all of you that know me..you know i don't back down from a good squabble!!!
Today I realized that I could have handled a situation differently.
Matthew and I were walking out of SAM’S Club today and as we unload the cart there was a verbal altercation happening around us. Though it was VERY apparent to everyone that the women screaming was at fault she continued to scream as though the man had removed her leg. At some point in their squabble she began screaming obscenities across the parking lot. Never having been in the situation where i had no control over what my 2 year old son is hearing i tried to stop the profanities from flying in his general direction at least until i could get him in the car. i said to the women...”we don’t use that language around my son i would appreciate it if you didn’t either.” now for anyone that knows me knows that was a very out of character way for me to approach the subject...ill save face and end that comment there, hee hee hee. i felt i had calmly expressed my feeling to this women who herself had a young child in the cart as well as 2 teenagers standing around her. she flipped around looked at me and said...”WHAT”. So i calmly repeated myself ...half way through her teenage daughter looks at me and said....... ”What would you F’ing do if someone tried to run over your kid”!!! i realized at that moment any “Mother to Mother” plea i was trying to get across...wasn’t going to happen. I resorted to covering my sons ears and ran back to my car!!!! So did i just make her more angry..Probably. Did I make her stop and think...Probably not. Will i do it again...Probably!!!! but for the life of me i can not think of a better way to have approached that situation...in the oh so wise words of my little brother...”words are like gummie bears...( just wait it gets better) make them sweet because you will need to eat them one day”!!!! oh Gavin.... What did we do without you for 2 years!!! I hope Indiana enjoyed you as much as we do!!!
